The O’Shea Story
O’Shea Plumbing was founded by Lawrie O’Shea in 1978. Lawrie built the business on a simple idea – that tradespeople should be honest, show up when they say they will, and take pride in work that lasts. He spent over 40 years doing exactly that.
When Lawrie decided it was time to hand over the reins, he found that same spirit in Steve Withers. Steve took over O’Shea Plumbing in 2021 alongside his long-time colleague Jarett Maddock – who’d worked with Lawrie for 11 years – and together they’ve grown the business while keeping Lawrie’s values firmly intact.
O’Shea Trades is the next chapter. Same foundation, same commitment to quality, now spanning roofing, plumbing and electrical across Melbourne.

director, steve
Steve didn’t plan to be a tradie. Two and a half years into a law degree, he realised he wanted to help people in a more hands-on way. He switched to plumbing, won Apprentice of the Year, and never looked back. With a dad who’s a civil plumber, you could say it was always in the genes.
In 2012 Steve founded Vic Plumbing and Drainage, which has grown into a team of 50. He took over O’Shea Plumbing in 2021, and O’Shea Trades is the natural evolution of that – bringing together Melbourne’s best tradespeople under one roof.
Steve’s driven by his family – his wife Sabrina, who plays a vital role across the family businesses, and their three kids Sienna, Tate and Olivia. That family-first mindset shows up in how the whole O’Shea Trades team operates.
